In this deeply personal episode, I share my how journey from humble beginnings, ambitious dreams, unexpected detours, heartbreak, motherhood, and the many seasons of beginning again helped shape the woman I am today.
For years, I believed my setbacks had delayed my purpose. I thought heartbreak delayed me, I thought single motherhood delayed me. But what I eventually learned, changed everything!
In this episode, you’ll discover:
Why survival is not your final destination
How to recognize when resistance is actually growth
The identities you may need to release to move forward
Reflection questions to help you reconnect with your purpose
Why the life you desire is waiting for your agreement
The life that is calling you forward cannot meet a version of you that refuses to move.
It’s time to say, Yes!!
There comes a moment in every woman's journey when she realizes that she is no longer trapped by her circumstances. But that realization doesn't usually arrive all at once. It arrives after years of believing that the obstacles, the disappointments, the setbacks, the responsibilities were the things that were standing in her way. For much of my life, I thought if I could just achieve enough, accomplish enough, become enough, I would eventually arrive at the life I imagined for myself. I came from humble beginnings. Like many women, I understood early that if I wanted a different future, I would have to create it. Education became my pathway. Ambition became my fuel. I dreamed of building a successful business, creating opportunities for others, and one day becoming a philanthropist. I wanted to leave a legacy that reached far beyond my own life. I had a vision. I had a plan. And I was moving toward it, then life happened. I fell in love. Not with a bad person, but with someone whose vision for life was very different from my own. Someone who did not share my core values, my ambition, or my dreams for what our future would become. Love has a way of making us believe that differences will somehow work themselves out. And sometimes they do, but sometimes they don't. And what followed was one of the most beautiful and most challenging seasons of my life. Within months I became a mother of twins, a beautiful baby girl and a baby boy, and in an instant everything changed. The dreams I once held for myself suddenly had to make room for two little people who depended on me for everything. My purpose felt reshaped overnight. The woman who had once been focused on building the future now found herself focused on surviving the present. There were seasons when I lost sight of myself, seasons where I questioned my decisions, seasons where I wondered if I had somehow drifted too far from the life I was supposed to be living. The journey back wasn't easy. It was filled with heartbreak, filled with setbacks, filled with lessons I would have preferred not to have learned. And more than once, it required me to begin again. Again after disappointment, again after loss, again after plans fell apart, again after relationships ended, again after believing I was finally moving toward something only to discover there was still more healing left to do. For years I thought the circumstances were the problem. I thought motherhood had delayed me. I thought heartbreak had delayed me. I thought failure had delayed me. I thought the detours had delayed me. But then one day I realized something that changed everything. I was no longer trapped by any of those things. The children had grown up, the relationships were over, the circumstances had changed, the opportunities were now available, the door wasn't locked anymore, yet I was still standing still. Not because I couldn't move, but because I was afraid to. Then I understood that the greatest prison isn't always the circumstance. Sometimes it's the identity we created while living through the circumstance. The woman who learned to survive, to learn to settle, the one who learned to expect disappointment, the woman who learned to put everyone else first, and she forgot that she was created for more. The breakthrough came when I realized and I stopped asking why did this happen to me, and started asking, who am I being called to become because of it? Everything shifted. I stopped viewing my story as a collection of mistakes and setbacks, and I started seeing it as preparation. Every lesson, every heartbreak, every beginning again, every challenge, every sacrifice, every tear. None of it was wasted. God had been using it all to shape me into the woman I needed to become. Today I can honestly say I am living in a season that I once prayed for. Not because everything is perfect, but because I'm aligned, aligned with God's purpose, aligned with his timing, aligned with who he created me to be. There is a joy I carry now that isn't dependent upon circumstances, a contentment that isn't attached to achievement, a peace that comes from knowing I no longer need to chase someone else's version of success. I simply need to walk faithfully in my own calling. And perhaps that's what this episode is really about. Because some of you listening today are waiting for your circumstances to change before you give yourself permission to move forward. You're waiting for more money, more certainty, more confidence, more validation. But what if the thing that's holding you back is no longer your circumstance? What if the season that once confined you has already ended? What if the life calling you forward is simply waiting for your agreement? Growth requires leaving behind the version of yourself that is driven by the will to just survive, because survival identities do not just willingly surrender. They fight for control. They whisper, hey, stay where it's safe. Don't risk embarrassment, don't ask for more, don't launch that business, don't write the book, don't apply for the position, don't speak up. Yet there is another voice, a quieter voice, a holy voice, a voice that keeps calling her forward. I need you to know that life's resistance is not a sign to stop. Many of us mistake resistance for misalignment. But resistance often appears because you're approaching the very thing that you were created to do. The closer you get to that purpose, the louder fear becomes. The closer you get to impact, the more your old identity begins to fight back. Because purpose demands transformation and transformation requires loss. You must lose old narratives, old limitations, old permissions, old identities before you can fully become who you have been designed to be. It's time for real reflection. You must ask yourself, what dream have I been postponing? Where am I waiting to feel ready? What version of myself am I afraid to outgrow? What would I do if I trusted God more than I trusted fear? The life you desire is not behind you, it's ahead of you, calling you, waiting for your agreement. Your next chapter does not require certainty, it requires courage. Take the next step, make the call, submit the application, launch the business, write the proposal, start the thing. The life that is calling you forward cannot meet a version of you who refuses to move. Because there comes a moment in every woman's journey where she realizes that she is no longer trapped by her circumstances. She is standing at the edge of her next chapter. And the only question left is whether she will walk into it. So before we go, I want you to remember something. The woman I am today is not the woman who started this journey. She is not the woman who believes success alone would fulfill her. She's not the woman who lost herself trying to make a relationship work. She is not the woman who spent years questioning whether she had somehow missed her purpose. She's not the woman who allowed disappointment to define her future. She is the woman who learned that God wastes nothing. Not the heartbreak, not the detours, not the delays, not the tears, not the beginning again. Every experience became part of the preparation. Every setback became a part of my story. And every season became a part of my new becoming. And if this is true for me, then it's true for you. So today I want you to stop asking yourself whether you're qualified. Stop asking whether it's too late. Stop asking whether you've missed your chance. Whether your circumstances have disqualified you from the life you desired. Because your next chapter is not waiting for a different version of you. It's waiting for you to trust God. It's waiting for you to agree to release old identities. Agree to stop shrinking. Your agreement to walk boldly into the life that has been calling your name for so long. The dream still matters, sis. The vision still matters. Your purpose still matters. And most importantly, you still matter. So take the step. The only question left is whether you're willing to walk into it. I hope the answer is yes. Until next time, remember, you are listening to She Is Qualified, a space where women are reminded that their worth is not determined by their titles, their relationship status, their setback, their ages, and definitely not their circumstances. This is a space where a woman reclaims her voice, rediscovers her purpose, honors her God-given talents, and steps courageously into the life that you were created to live. Because you were never meant to shrink. I will see you in the next episode.
